Fatal shooting 'was gang-related'
Three men are being treated in hospital
A man has died and three others have been injured in what police have described as a gang-related shooting in Sheffield.
South Yorkshire Police said the man, who has not been named, was shot dead in Brunswick Street, in the Broomhall area of the city, on Wednesday night.
The three other men were taken to hospital for treatment.
Police said the shooting was an "isolated and targeted attack" involving two groups of people.
Ch Supt Paul Broadbent, who is leading the investigation, told a news conference he believed the shooting to be gang-related.
Mr Broadbent said Sheffield did not have a higher rate of gang-related crimes than other cities.
He said people had come forward with information about the incident but he was still appealing for witnesses to contact police.
One of the injured men is said to be in a serious but stable condition.
The other two suffered less severe injuries and were taken to the minor injuries unit at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
The unit was closed on Thursday morning while police carried out investigations there but it has reopened.
